The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Warrants, Affidavit Writing, and Searches and Seizures” training, presented by JP Nixon Consulting.

Course Description:

This class is a multimedia presentation involving the use of real-life case studies, film, and television as examples to aid in the understanding of how to apply the Fourth Amendment to both basic and highly complex fact patterns. Designed to serve as a thorough tutorial for all law enforcement personnel, students will learn the practical considerations and legal standards associated with dozens of forms of searches.

This class will also cover the components of a warrant broken down into simple, understandable concepts and will have the drafting and execution process mapped out systematically. The class focuses on how to articulate probable cause in difficult cases and how to maximize the utility of your warrant by expansively delineating the property to be seized and effectively describing the entire premises to be searched.
