Courtroom security officer/deputy trainees have 12 months to complete the compulsory minimum training standards and field training.
Performance Outcomes
No state exam is required for courtroom security officer/deputy trainees.

Upon completion of the training requirements, documentation must be sent to DCJS and entered into the training management system (TRACER).
About TRACER
To maintain certification, law enforcement officers must remain employed with a Virginia law enforcement agency and continue in-service training throughout their careers.
Agencies requiring an extension in order to meet the mandated in-service requirements must submit a request to DCJS Field Services prior to the expiration date and provide the reason for the extension request.

What is the process for reinstating former Virginia court security officers?
If the former certified court security officer has been out of such employment for more than 24 months, and you are requesting an exemption from the Virginia Compulsory Minimum Training Standards, the agency must submit an Application for Exemption from the Virginia Compulsory Minimum Training Standards (DCJS Form W-2).
Agencies must contact DCJS Field Services for further assistance and submit the DCJS Form W-2.
