FFY25 Notice of Public Comment: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) has submitted an application to the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), within the U.S. Department of Justice, for funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for Federal Fiscal Year (FY) 2025. The total amount requested is $4,149,031.

Funds made available through the JAG Program play a critical role in supporting the Commonwealth’s efforts to address evolving challenges across the criminal justice system. DCJS proposes to utilize FY 2025 JAG funding to support state and local law enforcement and criminal justice partners through evidence-based, coordinated, and data-driven initiatives designed to enhance public safety and system effectiveness.

DCJS will use these funds to support law enforcement programs; prosecution and court programs; crime prevention and education programs; corrections and community corrections programs; substance use recovery and public safety programs; planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs; and mental health-related law enforcement and corrections programs. The application is available for public review at the DCJS office, located at 1100 Bank Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219. Public comments are welcome. All comments received will be considered prior to finalization of the application.
