Description
First responder agencies are frequently requested by schools, businesses, and community members for direction and presentations on what they should do if confronted with an active attack event. The Civilian Response and Casualty Care (CRCC) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active attack event. This course combines the civilian response best practices with the Stop the Bleed Campaign, which empowers civilians to provide life-saving medical aid before first responders ever arrive. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, law enforcement priorities of response and how to resolve common medical issues to address the preventable causes of death as a result of physical trauma. Participants in this compressed one day Train-the-Trainer course will receive access to training materials such as our DCJS CRCC PowerPoint presentation for use in their own DCJS supported training.
Each participant must agree to conduct a minimum number of training sessions semi-annually or as required to maintain instructor status in support of the DCJS Active Attack Program initiative in training citizens alongside first responders to cooperatively help keep Virginia prepared!
