ALERRT ERASE Train-the-Trainer

ALERRT ERASE Train-the-Trainer

Lynchburg, VA -
Bristol, VA -

Description

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce the delivery of the ALERRT ERASE - Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events Train-the-Trainer course in our statewide initiative promoting national standard levels of training, specifically within the area of active attacks. Virginia has taken the position to lead the way as a model in providing active attack instruction for our law enforcement/public safety members in the continued efforts of building resiliency and continuity when faced with mitigation of these events. This dynamic course of instruction is designed to prepare first responders for an open-air active shooter encounter. This hands-on course will cover equipment selection, vehicle ambushes, medical emergencies, vehicle and dismounted officer/citizen down rescue, individual/team movement techniques, and emergency vehicle crisis response. Some participants attending this course have found it to be physically challenging. Officers attending this course should be able to walk moderate distances, jog, kneel, crawl, and lift moderate weight. This is an outside class and is routinely conducted during inclement weather conditions. The train the trainer course includes the complete delivery of the ALERRT ERASE course of study as well as instructional techniques and methodology for delivering the course, safety protocols and procedures, graded participant teach backs, remediation, course critiques, and evaluations. Participants are provided with all lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, student manuals, and related courseware so that they are immediately prepared to deliver the ERASE course at their home agency.

One of the primary DCJS objectives of this session is the development of in-house adjunct instructor cadres to meet the future training needs of our regional academies and our law enforcement partners across the Commonwealth. This train the trainer session will be utilized to begin building those active attack work groups for our training expansion mission.
