October 7-9, 2024
Description of Training:
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the conference Building Bridges: Collaborative Approaches to Prevent Domestic Violence and Support Survivors. This conference will feature two and a half days of presentations focused on practical guidance, best practices, and evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to prevent domestic violence, support survivors, and hold individuals accountable.
Domestic violence and human trafficking often intersect, and we see many cases of sex trafficking by intimate partners in Virginia. On the final day, the main conference will transition to the half-day “Bridging the Gap: Human Trafficking Post-Conference.” This post-conference will allow attendees to deepen their knowledge of human trafficking. Session options will benefit attendees less familiar with the subject and those with expertise in trafficking. Attendees will also hear from local providers about the needs of trafficking survivors and resources available in Virginia.
Audience:
Victim advocates, child welfare workers, community corrections, law enforcement, pre-trial and probation professionals, prosecutors, reentry providers, jail-based program providers, defense attorneys/public defenders, judges, mental health professionals, and other allied professionals.
