Drafting Narcotics Search Warrants

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), in partnership with the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center (NCTC), is pleased to announce “Drafting Narcotics Search Warrants” training. 

Description:

This training will teach officers the fundamentals of drafting proper narcotic-related search warrants and informant-based warrants. Participants will learn how the use of narcotic-related evidentiary search warrants will enhance their investigations through identifying additional criminal offenses committed by suspects that may not have yet been reported. 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

• Properly structure affidavits
• Establish probable cause
• Conduct informant-based search warrants
• Conduct narcotic-related evidentiary search warrants
• Obtain digital evidence search warrants
• Identify resources specific to their state or region
• Understand how to properly label search warrants to increase efficiency 

Who should attend:

This training is only open to sworn law enforcement officers.

Partial In-service Credit:

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be available.

Travel, Lodging, and Meals:

Participants are responsible for transportation, meals, lodging arrangements, and related expenses. 

Cost and Registration:

There is no cost to attend this training; however, pre-registration is required.  

Training Time and Details:

Check-in will begin at 7:30 am.

Course begins at 8:00 am and concludes at 4:00 pm each day.
