The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce the upcoming National Organization for Victim Advocacy (NOVA) Advanced Level Training for existing members of the Victims Crisis Assistance and Response Team (VCART) to be held Monday, September 9 through Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Williamsburg, VA. Attendees must complete an application to attend. The maximum number of attendees for this training is 25, so complete your application by Monday, August 12, 2024 at noon. If you are selected to attend the training, you will be notified by Friday, August 16, 2024. Click Here to complete application
The registration fee is normally $625; however, there will be a registration fee of $100 for this training event, which we will collect upon review and acceptance of applicants. Please complete all required application fields. Any incomplete applications will not be accepted and applicants that are not a part of VCART will not be considered.
The NOVA Advanced Community Crisis Response Training event will help participants better understand the intellectual foundations of the NOVA Crisis Response Team Training model. Attendees will be taught a training curriculum to build on their learned skills of crisis response protocols over three days while fostering the development of team leadership, addressing the affects of trauma on special populations, working with the media and understanding Family and Friends Reception Center/Family Assistance Center development.
Participants are responsible for their own lodging, travel, and meals. We are working to secure the state rate ($118+tax, based on FFY 2024 federal rates) for lodging at a local hotel for the nights of August 8th, 9th, and 10th. Hotel information will be forthcoming.
There are a limited number of lodging scholarships available. To apply for a scholarship, please indicate that on your application form and submit by August 12, 2024 at 12pm. Please note that these scholarships do not cover the cost of any incidentals charged to the room.
