The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Reimagining Policing: Strategies for Building Community Relationships,” presented in cooperation with the National Criminal Justice Training Center of Fox Valley Technical College.
Description:
In this training, you will gain insights and strategies to maximize police agencies’ ability to connect with their communities and key stakeholders through ongoing dialogue and partnerships. We will also explore minority perceptions of policing due to historical events, identify ways to overcome some of these barriers, and discover strategies for creating a “learning organizational culture” while appreciating the fragile relationship with our communities. A focus will be on the importance of police legitimacy through ethics, empathy, and equity.
Who Should Attend:
This training is intended for sworn law enforcement officers and campus security officers.
Partial In-Service Credit (PIC):
Partial In-Service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be available.
Travel, Lodging, and Meals:
Participants are responsible for transportation, meals, lodging arrangements, and related expenses.
Training Time and Details:
Check-in will begin at 8:00 am.
Training begins at 8:30 am and concludes at 4:30 pm each day.

There is no registration fee for this course; however, pre-registration is required.
