Description:
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to offer the "Stress Relief for the Physical Body" webinar.
This informative webinar is designed to promote wellness and resilience among first responders. It will cover various topics, with the primary focus on improving sleep quality, even when shift work disrupts rest time. Participants will learn how to manage stressors, understand the role of the autonomic nervous system in our ability to get restorative sleep, and recognize signs of dysregulation.
Participants will also be introduced to the iRest Meditation protocol, which promotes positive changes in both the body and mind. The workshop emphasizes improving sleep quality and addressing the physical discomforts of shift work through non-pharmaceutical methods.
Topics to be addressed:
- Overview of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and how it affects our stress response
- Techniques to help fall asleep and return to sleep with greater ease
- Guided iRest meditation practice led by Jenn to experience its benefits firsthand
- Non-pharmaceutical strategies to mitigate physical discomforts and reduce overwhelm
- Jenn will send out recordings after the session to support continued restful sleep
