Kristin Hunter is the Behavioral Health Coordinator with the Adult Justice Programs, Division of Programs and Services. Her position serves as the subject matter expert for the development, implementation and operation of the mental health and substance use treatment services within the criminal justice system, particularly in carceral settings and specialty docket programs. Kristin manages and coordinates state and federally funded jail-based mental health and substance use disorder treatment grant programs. She also represents DCJS on interagency work groups addressing mental health and substance use disorders in the criminal justice system.
Prior to joining DCJS, Kristin worked at VDH for several years as a Program Coordinator with the Ryan White B federal grant program. She has over a decade of experience in mental health and SUD including case management, research, compliance, trauma informed treatment, program management and direct care. Kristin holds two Bachelors of Science degrees from VCU in Psychology and Sociology as well as an Associates in Human Services. When she is not working, Kristin enjoys spending time with her daughter, traveling, and visiting with her family and friends.
