The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce two sessions of “Advanced Threat Assessment Training for Higher Education: Issues and Practice” at Bridgewater College and Norfolk State University.
This advanced training will incorporate the use of both case studies and facilitated discussions regarding critical issues facing campus threat assessment teams to enhance each participant’s case management skills and to foster continuing improvement of threat management processes. Attendees will participate actively in discussions and training activities, with ample opportunity to share expertise and resources with colleagues.
DCJS has collaborated with the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and many other public and private universities in the Commonwealth to develop trainings designed to assist colleges and universities in the development and implementation of their threat assessment teams and to address the many legal and information sharing issues that arise.
The session will be presented by Dr. Gene Deisinger.
This training is intended for Virginia campus threat assessment team members including campus and university law enforcement officers, municipal officers working with campuses, security personnel, and civilian team members. Please note, the prerequisite for this course is the “Basic Campus Threat Assessment Team Training.”
