Half Day Afternoon Session: 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm (Check in begins at 12:30 pm)
REGISTER FOR CRASE, STOP THE BLEED, AND SOLO OFFICER RESPONSE
This course is designed to provide response protocols that cover “Before, During and After” an active attack event. It is built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004. Material covers citizen focused strategies, guidance and a proven plan for “surviving the five,” or the first five minutes of an active attack event before first responders arrive. Next, topics are discussed that play directly towards the “First on Scene,” or solo officer who may arrive during the attack and how the mindset of these individuals must change from historic perspectives of waiting for follow on responders. It deals with why it is imperative to isolate, distract, or neutralize an armed threat during an active attack, without delay in what is known as “response priorities” such as “Stop the killing” and “Stop the dying.” Topics also include levels of intervention, deadly force policies, supporting case studies, options for mitigating the occurrence of blue on blue shootings, concepts and principles of post engagement priorities of work, and basic first responder incident management. Finally, topics are covered for the next steps when the killing is over and how to stop the dying around those who may be part of the crisis site. This becomes a coordinated effort through a "whole community approach" to empower our citizens to become "Immediate Responders" who do what they can, where they are, with what they have to work with until "First Responders" arrive or take control of the scene. This includes aiding in the solution to stop the dying with basic medical interventions from the “Stop the Bleed” program.
Who should attend: All civilian stakeholders to include schools, campuses, faith communities, civic organizations, businesses, etc., and First Responders such as law enforcement, Fire/EMS, tele-communicators, dispatchers, school resource officers, school and campus security officers.
