The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce "Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) on School Grounds" Virtual Training.
"Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)" is a multi-discipline approach to prevent crime while creating a welcoming learning environment. This virtual training will cover the core strategies of CPTED (Access Control, Territorial Reinforcement, Natural Surveillance, and Maintenance) and provide examples of each that can be applied in school settings. When implemented in schools, CPTED concepts and strategies can promote physical and social order while reducing opportunities for disciplinary issues.
This virtual training is open to all school division emergency managers, school administrators, and staff across the Commonwealth responsible for planning, preparing, and responding to a crisis, as well as first responders.
Partial In-service Credit is not available.
There is no fee to attend this webinar. Pre-registration is required.

Navigate to the Left side of the home screen and click on "My Training" (any trainings you have registered for will appear here)
Click on “Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) on School Grounds”
15 minutes before the training is scheduled to begin the blue "Add to Calendar" button will change to "Attend the Meeting"
Click "Attend the Meeting" to join the Zoom session! Note: Please enter your full name or Benchmark username when joining the Zoom call so proper attendance records can be maintained.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS-assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
