Explore the foundations of a strong SART, examine how to create processes that support systems change, and develop plans that reinforce the sustainability of SARTs. The training will focus on the building blocks of effective SARTs as well as understanding the phases of systems change as a method to achieve real change in sexual assault response. Participants will learn about SART member roles/responsibilities and will walk away with concrete tools and strategies to manage conflict resolution and strengthen their existing SARTs with an emphasis on sustaining the team’s long-term work of improving the criminal justice response to sexual violence.
This facilitated focus-group discussion will bring together Virginia’s criminal justice community to identify the needs of SARTs and to generate ideas for how a state SART Expert Advisory Group can address those needs in order to make SARTs successful in Virginia. Participants will develop a common mission and vision; will define the leadership role of the Advisory Group; and will create a strategic plan in order to guide the SART Advisory Group with the goal of improving systems response to sexual violence in Virginia.
This summit is intended for professionals who serve on or support SARTs, including victim advocates, law enforcement, medical providers, prosecutors, Title IX Coordinators, and state government agencies.
