As a pre-cursor to the Virginia School Safety Training Forum and as a natural next step in school threat assessment team preparedness, DCJS is pleased to offer a half day pre-conference training entitled Applied Threat Assessment for K12 School Teams and Practitioners.
This applied course is offered for established school threat assessment team members and those with responsibility for and experience with K12 threat assessment. This training is designed to enhance skills, identify common team problems and solutions, and provide information on best practices and standards.
The goal for this half day course is to give participants a chance to practice their skills in key areas—threat assessment procedures; case management planning; conducting threat assessment interviews; and determining appropriate interventions.
The target audience for this course is members of school threat assessment teams and those with a role in preventing, deterring, interviewing or managing concerns of violence in schools, as well as those providing oversight to school teams at the division level. This course is appropriate for division superintendents and other division leaders, school principals, assistant principals, local law enforcement officers, counselors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and local mental health professionals. A Basic K12 Threat Assessment Management course is recommended as a prerequisite for this course.
Don’t miss this opportunity to network with threat assessment team members and others involved in threat assessment!
