The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) announces the availability of federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funding to support law enforcement training and equipment initiatives across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
This competitive grant opportunity provides funding to enhance public safety, improve operational capacity, and strengthen the criminal justice system through investments in equipment, training, technology, and related initiatives aligned with state and local priorities. Funding Details:
- Grant Program: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program
- Project Period: June 1, 2026 – September 30, 2026
- Maximum Federal Award: $25,000 per agency
- Total Project Budget: Up to $33,333 (includes required match)
- Match Requirement: 25% cash or in-kind local match
- Funding Type: Cost-reimbursement for approved expenses
- Continuation funding: There is no continuation funding available. Recipients must be able to accomplish grant goals within the four (4) month period.
Eligible Applicants:
Local law enforcement agencies in Virginia are eligible to receive this funding.
Application Submission:
Applications must be submitted through the DCJS Online Grants Management System (OGMS) by March 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
