The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce that we are currently accepting applications for the FY 2027 School Safety Personnel (SSP) or Programming Grant Program. The goal of this funding is to promote the safety of students and school staff through the implementation of school safety personnel positions to prevent crime and violence. We are accepting applications for New and Continuation School Safety Personnel Positions.
The following positions will be considered for funding:
- Division School Safety Director/ Coordinator/ Emergency Manager
- Division Threat Assessment Director/ Coordinator
- Behavior Interventionist/ Specialist
- Law Enforcement Liaison Officer
- School Ambassadors
This announcement includes two separate Funding Opportunities. Applicants must apply under the opportunity that corresponds to their position type:
- New School Safety Personnel Positions – FO #566890
- Continuation Funding for Existing School Safety Positions (Current Grantees Only) – FO #566965
Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis for a 12-month period beginning July 1, 2026, and ending on June 30, 2027. Awards are contingent on funding availability. Applications must be submitted using the On-Line Grants Management System (OGMS), found at http://ogms.dcjs.virginia.gov/index.do. Instructions for registering for a new account and applying for funding can be found on the OGMS Training & Resources webpage.

Local units of government are eligible to apply.
