The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce the availability of grant funds to support law enforcement agencies in implementing Marcus Alert and co-response initiatives. DCJS is soliciting applications from law enforcement agencies within the Commonwealth of Virginia that have law enforcement with jurisdictional responsibilities to provide a one-time grant for the purchasing, operating and maintenance of co-responder teams that operate, or will operate under Marcus Alert.
The goal of this grant is to enhance responses to individuals in crisis by facilitating collaborative efforts between law enforcement officers and mental health crisis responders when addressing mental health or substance use crises.
The eligibility for this grant is open to law enforcement agencies within the Commonwealth of Virginia that have primary jurisdictional responsibilities.
Eligible applicants include:
- State and local law enforcement agencies.
- Colleges and universities employing certified law enforcement officers.
Applicants for this competitive solicitation may be awarded grants for a twelve (12) month period, from July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025. Applications must be received by January 24. 2025 at 5:00 pm.
