Operation Ceasefire Grant CY 2026-2028

Purpose

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is now accepting applications for the Operation Ceasefire Grant (OCG) for calendar years (CY) 2026–2028. This OCG funding opportunity supports local law enforcement agencies and local units of government and their efforts to implement effective and sustainable solutions that intercept and eliminate local cycles of violence throughout the Commonwealth. This initiative is not intended to fund continuation of programs already funded by an Operation Ceasefire grant or a Firearm Violence Intervention and Prevention (FVIP) grant.

Applicant Eligibility

This funding opportunity is available to local law enforcement agencies and local units of government.

The following is a non-exclusive list of potential areas for funding: 

Crime Investigations Support
  • Personnel to support violent crime investigations and crime analysis
Forensic and Analytical Technology
  • Technology and resources to aid and support local law enforcement efforts in reducing crime*
  • Crime scene supports and resources
Training
  • Law enforcement training, violent crime reduction strategies, crime analysis, and advance tactical support
  • Local group violence intervention or other street outreach training for community-based organizations and local government agencies
Prosecutorial Support
  • Full or part-time prosecutors, case-managers, paralegals, victim witness advocates, or investigators dedicated to the prosecution efforts of violent crime and weapons offenses
Programmatic Support
  • Youth-targeted programming, such as positive youth development programs and mentorship programs
  • Adult-targeted programming, such as employment skills courses and outreach programs
  • Community-based initiatives, such as crime prevention through environmental design and violence interrupter programs

Applications must be submitted in the On-line Grant Management System (OGMS). DCJS provides a series of self-guided videos and training materials designed to assist applicants with navigating the OGMS website here
