CY2026 SRO/SSO Incentive Grant Program

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce the calendar year 2026 School Resource Officer Incentive Grant Program’s Funding Opportunities for School Resource Officers (SRO) and School Security Officers (SSO); new position grants. Both funding opportunities are in the DCJS On-line Grants Management System (OGMS). Grant applications must be submitted in OGMS no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Under this announcement, there are two posted Funding Opportunities based on the type of position in the application. SRO positions should apply under FO #554806 “CY26 School Resource Officer New Positions Grant – SRO” and SSO positions should apply under FO #555347 “CY26 School Security Officer New Positions Grant – SSO.”

Funding is available for grants for new positions. The total amount requested in an application in DCJS Special funds may not exceed $100,000 per SRO position or $50,000 for an SSO position.  Funding is available for salary and benefits for full-time or part-time SRO or SSO positions, equipment, programming, and training.

These applications must be submitted on an annual basis and will be awarded based on the availability of funding. Please read the guidelines and instructions for additional details.

Grant awards are dependent upon the availability of funding within the SRO Fund in the state appropriations act.

Please allow at least 3-5 days for your registration to be reviewed. Once approved, you will receive an email with your username and a separate email with your temporary password.
