The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and Niagara University First Responders Disability Awareness Training Program is pleased to offer three opportunities to attend “Disability Awareness Training for Law Enforcement.” The ability to respond to individuals with disabilities has posed varying challenges to officers across the country and high-profile cases have exposed the need for more involved awareness and education. The characteristics, and how to recognize, identify and properly respond to individuals with disabilities, are imperative across settings. As the population increases and more individuals are active in the community, the need to ensure accurate and appropriate response is critical.
This training is intended for sworn law enforcement officers. Participants outside of sworn law enforcement are welcome to attend based on availability of space.
