The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) will offer five sessions of “Responding to Alzheimer's Disease: Techniques for Law Enforcement and First Responders.”
This no-cost, one-day event will provide Virginia law enforcement and first responders with the most current Alzheimer’s and dementia training available. It features in-depth instruction to help law enforcement agencies enhance their capacity to handle calls involving people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (AD/D.) Resources, handouts, and opportunities for networking and information sharing will be provided.
This training will address topics including: Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease; Responding Effectively; Search and Rescue; and Community Resources. It will help participants:
Participation in this training is limited to Virginia municipal and state law enforcement officers, particularly first responders and community police/crime prevention officers.
Law enforcement officers will receive partial in-service credit (PIC) for completion of this training.
There is no registration fee to attend.
Participants are responsible for their travel, lodging, and meal arrangements and related expenses.
