The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce the availability of federal American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”) funds for law enforcement efforts to reduce violent crime, which has disproportionately increased in some communities due to the pandemic. This funding opportunity represents a portion of the $75 million in ARPA funds DCJS will be distributing in the coming months. This limited opportunity is for select localities with documented higher rates of crime and violence and is intended for your department to acquire the equipment and technology necessary to address these issues.

Localities can submit applications requesting up to $750,000. A priority will be given for the purchase of equipment related to real time crime infrastructure and technology to support law enforcement response to violent crime. Grants will be awarded for a six (6) month period January 1, 2023, through June 30, 2023.
