Biography:

My career in law enforcement started as a Surry County Deputy after graduating from Crater Criminal Justice Training Academy and later working as an undercover narcotics officer with Charles City Sheriff’s Office. In 1992 I was hired with Smithfield Police Department as a patrol officer. Since being employed with Smithfield I came up through the ranks with being promoted in January 1997 to Sergeant and later to Captain in September of 1984. As Captain I was responsible for the day to day operations of the Department. Having come up through the ranks I had the opportunity to attend numerous schools and have held numerous certifications for the Department. I am a graduate of (PELS) Professional Executive Leadership School, First Line Supervision School, Leading by Legacy and 233rd Session of the FBI National Academy.

I retired from the Virginia Army National Guard 28th Engineer Brigade out of Fort A. P. Hill in 2004 after serving 24 years. My rank upon retirement was Sergeant First Class and my job assignment was an intelligence NCO upon retirement.
