Micro Labs: Fentanyl, One Pot, BHO and Synthetic Hazards and Handling

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, in collaboration with Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), is pleased to announce the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center’s (MCTC) “Micro Labs: Fentanyl, One Pot, BHO and Synthetic Hazards” training. This course is designed to introduce law enforcement officers to the chemistry of domestic micro drug labs in order to better understand the processes and the hazards associated with these labs. This course shall cover safety practices, including the use of various engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment (PPE) hazard controls, to protect law enforcement who handle, sample and dismantle these drug labs.

Topics Included

  • History and national trends of BHO, Fentanyl, and One-Pot meth labs

  • Drug Trafficking Organization involvement in micro labs

  • Techniques of manufacturing

  • Environmental hazards of manufacturing processes

  • Variations of the different micro labs

  • Chemistry of each process

  • Assessment and dismantling procedures

  • Safety procedures

  • Sample and waste packaging and transportation

  • Live demonstration of drug production for one of the following: One-Pot meth, BHO, or Fentanyl

Who should attend?

This training is open to sworn law enforcement officers, US military, and emergency responders only. 

Partial In-service Credit

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be available. 

Travel, Lodging and Meals

Participants are responsible for their transportation and lodging arrangements and expenses.

Training Time and Details

Check in will begin at 6:45 a.m. and course will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m each day.

Cost and Registration

There is no fee to attend this training. Pre-registration is required.
