Description

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce "See Something, Say Something - Virtual Training", presented in partnership with the Virginia Fusion Center and the Virginia State Police.

Support for this training is provided by a Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security

This course will increase awareness of targeted violence, terrorism, and the processes of radicalization and escalation. Participants will be better equipped to identify and avoid narratives related to recruitment and mobilization to violence.  Training will include indicators, signs and risk factors for domestic terrorism and violent extremist behaviors. In addition to recognizing signs of radicalization to violence, participants will become be more aware of factors and behavioral changes that may suggest the risk of other forms of targeted violence. Participants will learn about the “bystander effect” and will learn about the importance of Suspicious Activity Reporting to community violence prevention. This training will enhance the ability of participants to take appropriate actions to engage with individuals in family, social, or professional circles, or other individuals they encounter in their day-to-day activities, provide them with assistance, refer them to appropriate resources, or refer them to law enforcement if there is a risk of imminent harm.
