ALERRT ERASE - Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events

Roanoke, VA -

Description

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce the delivery of the ALERRT ERASE - Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events course in our statewide initiative promoting national standard levels of training, specifically within the area of active attacks. Virginia has taken the position to lead the way as a model in providing active attack instruction for our law enforcement/public safety members in the continued efforts to build resiliency and continuity when mitigating these events. This dynamic course of instruction is designed to prepare first responders for an open-air active shooter encounter. This hands-on course will cover equipment selection, vehicle ambushes, medical emergencies, vehicle, and dismounted officer/citizen down rescue, individual/team movement techniques, and emergency vehicle crisis response. Some participants attending this course have found it to be physically challenging. Officers attending this course should be able to walk moderate distances, jog, kneel, crawl, and lift moderate weights. This is an outside class and is routinely conducted during inclement weather conditions.
