Bombing Prevention Awareness

Description

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) in a partnership with the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of Bombing Prevention (OBP) is pleased to offer three opportunities to attend “Bombing Prevention Awareness” training.

The purpose of this course is to provide general bombing prevention knowledge to include an overview of the function and purpose of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), homemade explosives and precursors, explosive effects and mitigation, terrorist attack cycle and response to suspicious behaviors and items.

This course provides an overview of the characteristics and categorization of IEDs; homemade explosives, the precursors used to make them, and the dangers and hazards of using them; the effects of an explosive blast and the consequences of each type of effect on both living and non-living targets; the terrorist attack cycle and activities at each step; and how to identify suspicious behaviors and items as well as the appropriate responses to the same. It also measures the participant’s comprehension of the cognitive material presented during the course.
