The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Conducting Security Assessments of Sites and Facilities.”
Description:
Security assessments are critical in guiding the development of site plans to improve site safety and security. Assessments may also address the construction and renovation of new or existing facilities.
This course examines the link between site placement, facility design, and criminal activity. Using group exercises, quizzes, and a multimedia approach, the course will provide participants with an understanding of multiple proven crime prevention techniques used in such assessments. The course shall include an overview of processes typically used in site design/placement and techniques for conducting effective risk assessments, including reporting.
The training will culminate in a practical exercise in which participants will work in teams to conduct and report on assessments of a site near the training location.
Who Should Attend:
This training will benefit all law enforcement, crime prevention practitioners, and school or campus facilities staff responsible for understanding security risk assessments.
Partial In-service Credit:
Partial In-Service credit (PIC) will be provided to Virginia law enforcement officers.
Travel, Lodging, and Meals:
Participants are responsible for transportation, meals, lodging arrangements, and related expenses.
Training Details
Registration begins at 7:30 am. Training begins at 8:00 am and concludes at 5:00 pm each day
Cost and Registration:
There is no registration fee to attend this training; however, pre-registration is required.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS-assigned course coordinator to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Denied registrants will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
