Crime Prevention Specialist Recertification Training

Description:

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Crime Prevention Specialist Recertification” training.  This course builds on the material provided in the basic crime prevention training, and it fulfills the 40 hours of additional crime prevention training necessary to recertify as a Crime Prevention Specialist.  The training will feature a combination of lectures, group discussions, and practical exercises. The course meets the requirement outlined in code (6VAC20-180-50) for Crime Prevention Specialist recertification.
 
Hours for this class can be used towards initial certification, but this class is not a replacement for the required Basic Crime Prevention Certification class

Intended Audience:

This course is intended for individuals with a DCJS Crime Prevention Specialist certification and those providing crime prevention services. Participants must be currently working in local, state, and federal law enforcement or government agencies, including colleges and universities, either sworn, civilian, or volunteer. 
 

Partial In-service Credit:

Law enforcement officers and campus security officers will receive partial in-service credit hours for this training.
 

Training Times and Details:

Registration begins at 7:30 AM
Training runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day
 

Transportation, Lodging, Meals:

Participants are responsible for their transportation, lodging, and meal expenses.  
 

Registration and Cost:

There is no registration fee for this course; however, pre-registration is required.
 
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
