School Security Officer Initial Certification Training

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce an opportunity to attend School Security Officer Initial Certification Training.   This two day class is intended for school security officers who are in need of initial certification. The five DCJS school security officer modules will be presented and followed by the required DCJS testing.

Who should attend?

School Security Officers currently employed by a Virginia Public School Division or by a private school within the Commonwealth and in need of initial certification.

Partial In-service Credit

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for school security officers will be available.    

Training Time and Details

  • Check in for training will begin 30 minutes prior to start time.
  • Start times vary depending on location. See individual session dates below for exact time.

Travel, Lodging and Meals

Participants are responsible for their transportation, meals and lodging arrangements and expenses.

Cost and Registration

There is no cost to attend the training. Pre-registration is required. 

  • Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
