Lotus (Coming December 2024)

Lotus Is Coming!

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is excited to announce its new credential management system, Lotus! The new system will launch on December 13, 2024, and replace the existing system currently used by the Division of Licensure and Regulatory Services (LRS). Please check back here regularly for more information, including updated FAQs and information on how to register once Lotus goes live.

FAQs

  • Lotus is LRS's new online credentialing system for its five regulatory programs: Private Security Services, Bail Bondsmen, Bail Enforcement Agents, Special Conservators of the Peace, and Tow Truck Drivers. It is built on the Microsoft Power Platform and offers users a more modern, easy-to-use experience.

  • Lotus will launch on December 13, 2024.
  • In order to move our data and implement the new system, there will be a brief blackout period from 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, through 8:00 am on Friday, December 13. During this time, we will shut down our existing system and launch Lotus. This blackout period is necessary to transfer all of the data and ensure everything is working properly.
  • Constituents will not be able to login or conduct any DCJS LRS business during the blackout while we move the credential data from the old system to Lotus.
  • DCJS staff will also not be able to conduct any credentialing during the blackout period.
  • If any of the dates change, we will communicate that on this page.

  • DCJS reached the end of the contract with its current vendor.
  • The new system, Lotus, will meet our current and future business needs better than the previous system.
  • Lotus will be easier to use for everyone.
  • The move to Microsoft Power Platform will add efficiency to DCJS’s processes.

  • In addition to the DCJS staff, everyone who currently holds or is seeking a private security credential from DCJS will be impacted by the move to Lotus.

  • No, Lotus will not cause a change in fees.
  • Fees are set by the Criminal Justice Services Board and found in the Virginia Administrative Code.

  • Lotus is designed to be easy to use.
  • We are developing how-to videos and guidance to help users. They will be posted on our website as they are completed.

  • Please be patient with DCJS staff as we make the transition from its current system to Lotus.
  • Repeatedly calling and emailing only slows down our ability to respond to everyone.
  • We will continue to post more information here, so please check back regularly.
