National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2017

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week will be celebrated April 2 -8, 2017 throughout the nation.  The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) will recognize this week and honor the victims and their families in the 10th Anniversary of the Virginia Tech tragedy with a ceremony held at the Bell Tower on Capitol Square at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.  Governor Terence McAuliffe, Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran, DCJS Director Francine Ecker, and staff from the Office of the Attorney General, Virginia Victims Fund, Virginia Victim Coalitions, and other special guests will be attending and making remarks that echo the solidarity of victim services programs and public safety organizations throughout Virginia that serve crime victims.  

In addition to the DCJS recognition event on April 4, 2017, please note public awareness events scheduled across Virginia to recognize National Crime Victims’ Right Week.

In case of rain, the event will be held in House Room 3 of the Capitol Building.
