The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce "Performance Coaching for Law Enforcement."
Chief Harry Dolan (Ret.), who has served as Chief of Police at four different agencies, including an agency with a collective bargaining agreement in place, will lead this course. Designed to deliver the fundamental skills you need to raise your agency's performance through more effective coaching, this course will provide lessons learned over more than three decades of public safety experience. The two-day training will conclude with practical role-play exercises that reinforce key concepts.

- Motivation and Leadership
- Performance Theory
- Performance Coaching Fundamentals
- Confronting Undesirable Performance
- How to Provide Feedback and Conduct the Coaching Conference
Who should attend?
This training is recommended for managers and supervisors in all public safety fields, including school and campus security, fire service, and EMS.
Partial In-service Credit:
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers will be provided.
Travel, Lodging, and Meals:
Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and meal expenses.
Training Time and Details:
Check-in will begin at 7:30 am The course will be held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Cost and Registration:
There is no registration fee for this course; however, pre-registration is required.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
