Description
The Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to offer a one day, in-person session of managing and defusing training that is comprehensive, interactive, and scenario-based providing de-escalation techniques that cover everything from disruption to confrontation to danger within the school environment. The course is replete with verbal, written, and physical tactics to control any situation.

Who should attend?
All K-12 and higher education school administration, faculty, and support staff as well as school security officers, school resource officers, campus law enforcement and all other sworn law enforcement who may respond to school situations.
Training Time and Details
October 24th training hours will be 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m.
October 25th training hours will be 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Partial In-service Credit
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) is available for law enforcement and school/campus security officers who meet attendance and participation requirements.
Travel, Lodging and Meals
Participants are responsible for their transportation, lodging, and meals.
Cost and Registration
There is no cost to attend this training. Pre-registration is required.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
