The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce the Civilian Response and Casualty Care (CRCC) course. This training, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend / Run, Hide, Fight strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. This course combines the civilian response with the Stop the Bleed Campaign, which empowers civilians to provide life-saving medical aid before first responders ever arrive. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options and basic medical intervention to reduce preventable causes of death.
This training is being offered to responsibly concerned citizens.
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers, campus security officers and school security officers will be available.
Participants are responsible for their transportation, lodging and meals.
Check in for training will begin 30 minutes prior to session start time. See below for individual session hours.
There is no fee to attend this training. Pre-registration is required.
Participants must complete a COVID waiver prior to entry into the training site. Participants must also abide by the site's requirements.
