Conducting School-Based Drills Virtual Training

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce a virtual course on conducting school-based drills.  This course, offered twice, focuses on the legal requirements for conducting drills and provides current best practice for conducting drills, documenting drills, and providing after-action reviews.  

This session will cover topics related to conducting school-based drills and provide information on the following:

  • Various codes and regulations governing drills in Virginia 

  • Necessary and recommended frequency of drills 

  • Stakeholders to involve 

  • Best practices for conducting drills 

  • Planning for individuals with functional and access needs

  • Required and recommended drills   

Who Should Attend

School and division leaders, teachers, support staff, School Resource Officers, School Security Officers, other first responder partners, and emergency managers 

Partial In-service Credit

This course is not eligible for Partial Inservice Credit.

Location

This course will be offered virtually.  

Cost and Registration

There is no cost for those in the target audience to attend, however registration is required.
