CURRENT ONLINE BEHAVIORAL TRENDS AND UPDATES
The DCJS’ Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety, in conjunction with Safer Schools Together (SST), is pleased to announce the following training opportunity to help behavioral threat assessment team members and other school and college campus safety personnel better recognize and respond to today’s challenges from worrisome digital content contained on varied social media platforms.
The training will be offered virtually, and each session will be updated based on current online behavioral trends. You are encouraged to register for all sessions. The dates and times for the training sessions are as follows:
October 31, 2024 – 9:30AM to 11:30AM
November 19, 2024 – 9:30AM to 11:30AM
January 21, 2025 – 9:30AM to 11:30AM
February 18, 2025– 9:30AM to 11:30AM
March 25, 2025 – 9:30AM to 11:30AM

Current Online Behavioral Trends and Updates
Monthly Current Online Behavioral Trends and Updates complement SST’s Digital Threat Assessment® (DTA) training. These sessions enhance School Safety / Threat Assessment (SS/TA) teams’ understanding of the ever-changing digital landscape and include a live Q&A with SST Threat Analysts.
You Will Learn:
• Updates and changes to all leading social media platforms
• Key information for SS/TA teams
• Case Scenarios: recent case files handled by SST Threat Analysts
• Trends, language, and new ways that students communicate online
• Risk-enhancing behaviors – what to look out for
Who should attend?
This training is offered to behavioral threat assessment team members at the school, division, and college campus levels. This includes School Resource Officers, Law Enforcement Officers, and School and Campus Security Officers. Other school community members, such as school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and school nurses, may also benefit from this training.
Partial In-Service Credit
There is NO PIC being offered for this training.
Cost
There is no cost to the participant to attend this course.

Registration
Please note that the DCJS registration system cannot sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. The DCJS-assigned coordinator is responsible for reviewing the roster and making a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
