The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), in partnership with the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA), is pleased to announce “The New Face of Mexican Cartels” training.
Course Description:
Mexican Cartels have been flooding the United States with narcotics for decades. It was not until the new millennium that they became more organized and violent. This class discusses the evolution of these organizations, their unique culture, areas of operations, and the impact allies and rivalries have on drug trafficking and violence in Mexico and the United States.
Topics to be covered:
- Cartel evolution
- Defining the “New” border
- Operational model
- Cartel culture
- The big four- Sinaloa, Jalisco, Gulf, Zetas
- Subsidiaries and spin-offs
- Community infiltration identification
- Intelligence-based policing
- Intel sharing
Who should attend:
This training is open to sworn law enforcement and law enforcement analysts.
Partial In-service Credit:
Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers is available for this course.
Travel, Lodging and Meals:
Participants are responsible for their transportation and lodging arrangements and expenses.
