Update on the New Proposed Title IX Regulations Webinar

Course Description

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce that it will host two webinars entitled “Update on the New Proposed Title IX Regulations.”  On June 23rd, the 50th Anniversary of the day that Title IX was signed into law, the US Department of Education issued a new Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that is intended to overhaul many of the Title IX changes implemented by the prior administration in 2020. A summary of the proposed changes can be found in the Fact Sheet and Chart prepared by the US Department of Education, and a client alert prepared by Jeffrey J. Nolan, a partner at Holland & Knight, LLP, helps to put the more noteworthy potential changes in context. In sum, the NPRM proposes substantial changes in the scope of Title IX, applicable definitions of sex-based discrimination, and the procedures that may or must be applied in cases involving students and employees. Public comments regarding the proposed regulations are due to the US Department of Education on September 12, 2022.

To help you understand the substance and significance of the proposed changes, DCJS is sponsoring two 90-minute webinars led by Jeffrey J. Nolan. We hope you will join us, and we will welcome your questions and comments.
