Correctional Services Programs

  • The Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) administers general appropriation funds designated for the purpose of supporting the Comprehensive Community Corrections Act for Local-Responsible Offenders (CCCA) and the Pretrial Services Act (PSA) as discretionary grants to local units of government.

  • In order to assist localities in developing monitoring programs using GPS or other technology, DCJS has developed Guidelines for Local Electronic/GPS Monitoring Programs. Localities wishing to implement a program may find additional resource information in Offender Supervision with Electronic Technology: Community Corrections Resource (2nd edition), published by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA).

  • The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) administers state appropriation funds in the form of grants to support the Pre-release and Post -Incarceration Services (PAPIS) Programs. The vast majority of incarcerated individuals will reintegrate back into the community. This grant program supports pre-release and post -incarceration professional programs that provide resources and supportive reentry services to returning citizens.
