FY2025 SRO/SSO Incentive Grant Program

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce the Fiscal Year 2025 School Resource Officer Incentive Grant Program’s Funding Opportunities for School Resource Officers (SRO) and School Security Officers (SSO); new and continuing grants. Both funding opportunities are in the DCJS On-line Grants Management System (OGMS). Grant applications must be submitted in OGMS no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Under this announcement, there are two posted Funding Opportunities based on the type of position in the application. SRO positions should apply under FO #521288 “FY25 School Resource Officer Grants - SRO” and SSO positions should apply under FO #521289 “FY25 School Security Officer Grants - SSO”. Applications for new positions must be submitted separately from continuation applications.

The total amount requested in an application in DCJS Special funds may not exceed $100,000 per SRO position or $50,000 for an SSO position.  Funding is available for salary and benefits for full-time or part-time SRO or SSO positions, equipment, programming, and training.

These opportunities are applicable to current SRO/SSO Incentive Grant Program grantees and new applicants. This funding is available for new SRO positions on a 4-year grant cycle. Continuation applications are also being accepted for grantees whose 4-year grant cycle ended. These applications must be submitted on an annual basis and will be awarded based on the availability of funding, with priority given to new positions. Please read the guidelines and instructions for additional details.

Grant awards are dependent upon the availability of funding within the SRO Fund in the state appropriations act.

All applicants must register in OGMS to view and apply for this funding opportunity. Instructions on how to register are available on our OGMS Training & Resources webpage. We ask that you allow at least 3-5 days for your request to be reviewed. Once approved, you will receive an email with your username and a separate email with your temporary password. Additional OGMS training resources are available on the OGMS Training & Resources webpage as well as the SRO/SSO Incentive Grant Program webpage.

In addition, an OGMS and application information webinar will be available for applicants. The presentation will discuss application requirements and instructions on how to complete the forms in OGMS. When available, the presentation will be placed on the SRO/SSO Incentive Grant Program website and as an attachment on the Funding Opportunities.
